The KRS Show Team is the group of students who are ready and want to try out their skills away from home. They compete on KRS school horses or in some cases their own. Also on the team are the grooms, other KRS riders, who are trained by KRS and whose help is indispensable.
Riders are also taught how to prepare a horse for competition - everything from bathing and braiding to loading the horse onto the trailer - and, of course, how to prepare themselves to ride correctly - from warming up to performing in the ring.
Kars riders have competed on all four circuits - Bronze, Silver and Gold and Platinum. To begin with they normally enter Bronze shows to build confidence and understand how the system works. As they progress, they can aspire to the next level which is the Silver circuit. This series of shows culminates in a Championship show in September.
Since 1990 when Kars Riding School opened, The KRS Show Team has accumulated upwards of 158 year end awards in the Ottawa Area Dressage Group. 58 of these were won by Poppet!
